Gifted Endorsement

For the past two weeks I have been in class taking classes to get my gifted endorsement. I'm not completely done because I have three assignments that are to be turned in this week, which I should be working on...

Anywho, I wanted to share with you some videos that we watched in class. Anyone that has an interest take a looksie!

This is a video that was shared regarding teachers imposing their views on students.

This is a LONG video about what schools are doing to children. Very informational and has some chuckles!!

Now this video is VERY near and dear to my heart. I actually started crying. We were discussing using simulations in the classroom and the professor shared this video with us.

I will share more from my class once I finish all the assignments.

I also am eager to get started for planning next year, but haven't had time. I will do that next week! Thank you to all those that continue to share your ideas throughout the summer.

Something that I am VERY interested in reading about is behavior management. I will teach in a departmentalized again and was wondering what system do all your teacher use? Last year we did not have a grade level plan, but I am pushing again for one!

Thanks and happy summer!!

OHHH and 7 more followers and I will be having a giveaway!!! :)

  1. Thanks for commenting. I needed this summer to catch up and find everyone's blogs - and hey you're in GA.

Thanks for posting these videos. The last one actually stopped 10 minutes in. I tried twice. But, I absolutely LOVED the 2nd video. In fact I just found a follow up editorial that I am going to post and link back to your blog for everyone to watch the video. Thanks again.

  2. Thank you for commenting. I'm sorry that the link did not work, but there are actually several posts of it on You Tube. If you are interested in hearing more about it, look up Jane Elliott's Class Divided.

Thank you for stopping by!! :)

  3. Thanks for sharing these videos with us! I really liked the last one. I do something like that with my kids when talking about Martin Luther King Jr. I give only one color of eyes Oreo cookies. We talk about how good they are. The other kids are sooo sad. It really teaches them about discrimination and they talk about how it feels. I also found on a blog someone who looked at a brown egg and a white egg. They talked about the differences...but when they opened it and saw the inside, they realized that they were the same inside.

Our school uses Responsive Classroom. We have take a break chairs and buddy rooms if needed.

    Thanks for sharing.

  4. Thank you Sara for visiting my blog. That is a neat way to incorporate discrimination. I am trying to think of something that I can do with my class next year to teach different character education words within my regular science day. The eggs experiment is a though.

I will also check out Responsive Classroom. Thanks again!
